Blood Pressure Readings

How do I reduce the diastolic (bottom) number in my blood pressure readings?
I just took mine and it read 134/94
I am seeing a doctor and it has always been borderline due to a chronic pain issue. They monitor it. But recently this bottom number is higher and I don’t understand why. I don’t want to go on meds, which is why i’m trying to figure out how to lower it. Doctors don’t give much advice these days in the 3 minutes you get to see them.
more potassium:
potatoes
cantaloupe
fish
tomatoes
orange juice
almost any fruit or veggie
decrease sodium:
especially reduce prepackaged and boxed food from diet. read labels. just because you don’t put salt on your frozen dinner doesn’t mean it has no sodium when in fact it often reads 29% of daily sodium and the entire container you just ate was 3 serving portions making dinner almost 100% of your recommended daily intake of sodium.
decrease fluids:
do not become dehydrated but just monitor how much water you drink. don’t over do it. people with dry mouth, especially from pain medication, will often over drink, trying to relieve their symptoms of dry mouth.
take magnesium and eat dark chocolate:
these both are scientifically shown to relax the blood vessels and decrease blood pressure.
manage stress:
get good sleep. go on a walk before dinner. take a break at work. do something fun during the week not just the weekend.
you mentioned pain management:
pain will drive your blood pressure up as well as cause you to tense up so when you take your blood pressure it will read high. also, if your not getting enough exercise due to pain your blood pressure will slowly increase due to sedentary lifestyle. get some form of exercise.
